Effect of pack carburizing and viscosity of quenching media on AISI 1010 steel

چکیده
Pack carburizing is a method of surface hardening steel which carried out by diffusing carbon into the material where initially solid. This study aims to determine effect pack treatment on microstructure and hardness AISI 1010 steel. The was then cooled slowly in oven temperatur 150oC followed air cooling. Single Quenching reheating temperature 870oC holding it at that for 60 minutes. done cooling quickly using medium varying viscosity. results composition test showed an increase content 4.1159%. observations massive pearlite structure formed depth ± 0.794 mm specimen. Vickers value raw increased after 217.88±5.13 HV due formation structure. With this hardness, application Steel becomes wider.
